Mythos: A Map to Myths, Metaphors, and Dreams (2020)
"Mythos: A Map to Metaphors, Myths, and Dreams focuses on the important facets of what makes us human. The book highlights the ways in which we communicate, the ways in which we see the world around us. Importantly, how we conceptualize that world, and how we put it into words.
Mythos takes a deep dive into our current history's big topics. It shows how we can better connect to one another and how we can broaden our inner humanity. It positively starts the process whereby we can work together. In a time when we seem to be coming apart as a society, Mythos gives us the glue to put the parts back together using mythical stories that teach.
Melissa uses her professional experience as a linguist and her own deep studies in mythology to create a program for individual human fulfillment. The author shows us, clearly and well, how we can solve the split of “he said, she said”, the divisions that break down communication. In a style similar to Joseph Campbell, Melissa shows us the Way of Ways, the paths to peaceful unity through language and story."

"Rase walked on Nila’s right, and Lok walked on her left. Nila had looked at them questioningly as they surrounded her but had apparently decided against asking them what was going on. Lok was thankful for this, since she didn’t know how they'd be able to gesture why they were surrounding her. Fortunately, it seemed Nila agreed, as she had turned her head forward, looking ahead while they carried on their way. Her lips returned to their previous position, nestling into the muscles that created a relaxed and satisfied small smile.
Lok turned her gaze toward Rase whose eyes were sweeping from left to right, checking for Increds. They were both feeling the same thing: Unease. Lok didn’t know what the Increds had been looking for or why they were so close to their path, but she was going to make sure they didn’t run into each other. Over the next few days, they slept in trees, didn’t cook over fire, and only heard what they thought was an Incred once - it turned out to be a rabbit. There were no more signs of Increds. But their lack of appearances also made Lok uneasy. She didn't know whether they were lucky, or whether they were being watched and carefully followed."
